About Top Guys
Top Guys is an online marketplace that connects homeowners, landlords, property managers, and businesses with independent service providers for handyman work, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, home repairs, installations, and property maintenance.
The problem we set out to fix is a familiar one. Finding someone good to fix a leaking faucet, patch a wall, or turn a rental around between tenants usually means asking around, calling several numbers, and waiting for someone to show up with a vague estimate. On the other side, skilled independent tradespeople spend a large part of their week chasing the next job instead of doing the work.
What the platform does
For customers
- Post a job with photos and a description in a couple of minutes.
- Get an analysis of the likely cause, the trade needed, and a price range to expect.
- Compare bids from independent local providers, or hire directly from a profile.
- Schedule, message, and keep the record of the job in one place.
For providers
- Build a profile with your skills, rates, service categories, and service area.
- See jobs that match your trade and travel radius, and bid on the ones you want.
- Manage accepted work, scheduling, and customer messaging in one place.
- Build a public record of completed jobs, ratings, and reviews.
How we make money
Customers post jobs, receive bids, and message providers for free, with no separate marketplace transaction fee for posting a job or accepting a bid. Providers pay a platform fee when a job is awarded to them: 7% of the accepted amount, with a $3.00 minimum and a $95.00 maximum, charged to their wallet balance. There is also a paid provider plan, Top Guys Pro, whose current benefits and pricing are shown in the app.
That model keeps the incentives clear. We only get paid when work is actually awarded through the platform, so the useful thing for us to do is make matching, pricing, and scheduling genuinely work for both sides.
How we approach trust
Providers are independent businesses, not employees. Profiles show the credentials a provider has submitted, including license and insurance documents where supplied, and completed jobs, ratings, and reviews that come from work done through the platform.
Those credential checks are preliminary and AI assisted, and they are not government or insurer verification. For any work that requires a license, a permit, or insurance, confirm the details directly with the provider and your local authority. Our guide to handyman versus licensed contractor work explains where that line usually falls.
Where we operate
Coverage is set by the providers themselves, since each one chooses the ZIP codes and travel radius they serve, and we expand market by market as pros join.
See the markets with active providers on the locations page, or get in touch on the contact page if you have a question about your area.
Get your job done, or get more of them
Post a repair as a customer, or create a profile as a provider. Both take a couple of minutes.
