How Top Guys works

Top Guys is a two sided marketplace. Customers post a job and receive bids from independent providers, or hire one directly from a profile. Providers build a profile, set their own rates and service area, and bid on the jobs they want.

The platform handles matching, messaging, scheduling, and the record of the job, so both sides work from the same information instead of texts and phone calls.

If you need work done

1. Describe the job

Add photos and a short description of what is wrong or what needs installing. Our analysis reads them and suggests the trade category, how complex the work looks, and a price range to expect.

2. Compare bids or hire directly

Providers who serve your area bid with a price, an estimated duration, and the earliest date they can start. You can also open a profile and send a booking request straight to someone you want.

3. Confirm and get it done

Agree the date, keep messages and photos on the job, and review the work when it is finished. You are never obligated to accept a bid.

What it costs customers

Posting a job, receiving bids, and messaging providers is free. There is no separate marketplace transaction fee for posting a job or for accepting a bid. You pay your provider the price you agree for the work, and you can compare that price against the estimate you get when you post.

If you do the work

1. Build a profile that matches

List your service categories and skills, set your hourly rate and minimum charge, and add the ZIP codes and travel radius you actually cover. Matching is weighted across skill fit, distance, availability, rating, completed jobs, and response rate.

2. Bid on the work you want

Browsing jobs and submitting bids is unlimited and free. Before you bid, your wallet needs enough credit to cover the platform fee that would apply if that bid were accepted.

3. Deliver and get reviewed

When a job is awarded to you, the platform fee is charged to your wallet: 7% of the accepted amount, with a $3.00 minimum and a $95.00 maximum. Completed jobs, ratings, and reviews all feed back into how you rank for the next job.

What Top Guys does not promise

  • Posting a job does not guarantee a bid. Provider supply varies by area, trade, and timing, so a job in a thin market or an unusual trade may get no bids at all.
  • Top Guys is not the contractor and does not perform the work. Providers are independent, set their own rates, and carry their own licenses and insurance where those are required.
  • Credential checks shown on profiles, including license and insurance documents, are preliminary and AI assisted. They are not government or insurer verification. Confirm credentials directly for any work that requires them.
  • Estimates produced from your photos and description are guidance for comparing bids, not quotes, and they do not replace an on site assessment.
